Provost's Award for Undergraduate Academic Advising (Staff)

Description

The Provost’s Award for Undergraduate Academic Advising recognizes one Lehigh exempt staff member for demonstrated excellence in and extraordinary contributions to undergraduate academic advising. This award consists of a cash prize of $1,000 and a grant of $1,500 to support the advisor’s professional development. Staff award winners will be honored at the Staff Appreciation Dinner.

This new award aligns with Lehigh’s Strategic Plan - Inspiring the Future Makers - with the goal of “Make It Together.” As part of this goal, “We will encourage faculty and staff to support students and one another–strengthening our sense of community–and we will recognize and celebrate those who do this work.” The Provost’s Award for Undergraduate Academic Advising provides a new avenue to recognize and celebrate staff who demonstrate excellence in academic advising. Academic advising is a key component to student success. Academic advisors are often students’ first points of contact when they enter Lehigh, providing an ongoing, critical connection between the student and the University. Each college or interdisciplinary program at Lehigh provides advising for undergraduate students through faculty or professional staff advisors and faculty mentors. Advisors help students develop educationally, professionally, and personally, guiding them through the University while connecting them with an array of campus resources.
